The Qatar Centre for Global Banking and Finance (QCGBF) is delighted to announce that it is now welcoming papers for its fourth annual conference.

The conference provides a platform for experts from across the globe to present and discuss new research that can help central banks deal with the challenges facing the global economy and financial system.

You are warmly invited to submit a paper on the challenges facing central banks. Areas of interest include, but are not confined to:

β€’    Central bank mandates, policy frameworks and governance arrangements,
β€’    Unfamiliar threats to economic stability,
β€’    Monetary and regulatory implications of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets,
β€’    Novel data analytics and computational methods useful for central banks.

Paper submissions will be open for the panel discussions. Paper submissions on any topics of relevance to central banking are welcome.

Those interested in presenting their work at this conference should submit a draft of their paper by 23:59 GMT on Sunday 3 March via our website www.qcgbfconference.org. Financial assistance is available for presenters and discussants of accepted papers. Abstracts will not be accepted.

Papers will be reviewed by the scientific committee and decisions will be communicated by the end of March 2024.

Authors of accepted papers will be expected to attend the conference in-person on the 1st and 2nd of July 2024. If accepted, papers will either be selected for presentation (with discussant) or for a (highly regarded) poster session on the evening of the first day of the conference.

Past keynote speakers at the conference include; Nellie Liang, Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, U.S. Treasury Department; Huw Pill, Chief Economist and Executive Director for Monetary Analysis, Bank of England; Raghuram Rajan, Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance, Chicago Booth; Lucrezia Reichlin, Professor of Economics, London Business School and Nicholas Macpherson, Lord Macpherson of Earl’s Court.
