Job description
The university lecturer will undertake and help coordinate research and teaching in Real Estate broadly defined.
The Real Estate section is part of the Department of Economic Geography and involved in teaching (50% workload) at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Staff members teach on a variety of courses in Real Estate. The Real Estate programme is interdisciplinary, adopting perspectives from economic geography, real estate finance & economics, and planning. The Real Estate programme has been very successful in attracting students, with most alumni working in Real estate Industry or Real Estate Planning. A research programme on Real Estate is started recently. The key research themes relate to Real estate & land markets. These themes are typically theoretically-based and empirically addressed, aimed at leading international journals such as Journal of real estate finance & economics, Environment and planning A, Journal of Housing Economics and Journal of regional science. These issues are addressed for both their academic and societal importance, to provide guidelines for real estate practice and public policymakers.
Requirements
- a PhD in Economic Geography, Economics or Finance- a revealed interest in real estate issues- a proven ability to initiate and implement research of international standards- the ability to stimulate and encourage the research of others- a team-player- demonstrated teaching excellence and the ability to teach in English.Competences of a university lecturer:- conceptual ability- self-reflection- presentation- result orientationShort-listed candidates will be asked to give an academic seminar.

The 2007 QANU review commission’ reviews were highly successful and proved the department to be among the top educational and research institutes in the field of Spatial Sciences in The Netherlands. Teaching and research is organized around two Master of Science programs: Economic Geography and Real Estate. The researchers participate in the Urban and Regional Studies Institute of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. Also, the researchers are very active in the European Real Estate Association and the European Regional Science Association.
Conditions of employment
Additional conditions of employment: the salary is negotiable, but will be based on the salary scale for university lecturers at Dutch universities and in accordance with the collective agreement regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The appointment is for three years. The gross salary will be between € 3195 (min. scale 11) and € 4970 (max. scale 12) per month and depends on experience and qualifications. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The RUG offers a very attractive pension scheme.Additional Information
