The European Association for Banking and Financial History (EABH) e.V. is delighted to invite scholars, historians, lawyers, archivists and all people interested to attend the First Workshop on “Archival Legislation for Finance” (ALFF) in Europe. This workshop will take place at the Deutsche Bank AG premises in Frankfurt am Main on 23 November 2012, starting at 9.30 am. The general topic of this workshop will have a special emphasis on archives and records management legislation for financial institutions in central European countries and will elaborate the following matters:

• The legal framework of archives and records management in financial institutions.

• Differences on legal obligations to retain data within financial institutions e.g. central banks, saving banks, commercial banks, insurance companies and investment banks.

• Standard documentation required by law and Supervisory Authority to be kept by financial institutions.

• Internal practices and corporate governance guidelines inside financial institutions concerning archiving processes, periods and its legal framework. How far is the practice of archiving influenced by the existing (national or regional) legislation?
