The Secretariat of the Swiss Competition Commission is looking for a

Chief Economist

Key responsibilities: The Chief Economist is the head of the Competence Centre Economics and a member of the director's staff and the overall executive management of the Secretariat. You will be responsible for the economic aspects of the competition authority's decisions. You will provide leadership on economic matters and advise the case teams in proceedings on economic analysis and evidence gathering. You will develop and implement the economic best practices of the competition authority, carry out internal and external coordination tasks, in particular in dealings with other authorities, Parliament and external experts, realize strategic projects, organize the training of the staff in economic matters, represent the competition authority in international organizations, maintain close contact with the academic world and carry out public relations work.

Experience: Candidates must have a university degree in economics as well as several years of work experience. A PhD in and/or expert knowledge of applied microeconomics or industrial economics are an asset. Negotiation and persuasion skills, assertiveness, a keen sense of responsibility and communication skills are essential. You like to work independently as well as in a team. You are able to edit complex texts in German and French and have an excellent command of English.

Our profile: As an independent federal agency, the Competition Commission and its Secretariat monitor the Swiss economy. The Secretariat and its 75 employees, who primarily have legal and economic backgrounds, conduct the proceedings provided for in the Swiss Cartel Act.
