Big Data and Economic Forecasting

Economic forecasting and nowcasting are now challenged by the availability of novel large data and by the rapid advances of modelling techniques like those from machine learning. The Centre for Advanced Studies at the European Commission Joint Research Centre is holding a two-day workshop to discuss recent advance in economic forecasting using big data and novel data sources.

Submissions are welcomed for oral or poster presentation covering a wide range of topics:

  • Novel data sources for economic analysis (satellite images, web data …)
  • Text mining and Natural Language Processing to build economic indicators
  • Big data and Artificial Intelligence topics covering economics, finance, businesses
  • Forecasting and Nowcasting
  • Machine Learning for prediction and understanding of the economy

The event is free of charge for all participants. Funding for travel can be provided for authors of accepted papers. The deadline for submission is March 12th, 2019: please submit your full paper to Full papers are preferred but extended abstracts will be accepted in exceptional cases.
