The USC Dornsife Institute for New Economic Thinking invites submissions of research papers for presentation at its upcoming conference on “Panel Data Forecasting” on April 19-20, 2019 at the University of Southern California. Confirmed speakers include Badi Baltagi (Syracuse University), Raffaella Giacomini (University College London), Laura Liu (Federal Reserve Bank), Massimiliano Marcellino (Bocconi University), Roger Moon (USC), and Allan Timmermann (UC San Diego).
The focus of the conference will be on improving forecasting accuracy by using both time-series and cross-sectional information. In addition to contributions that employ panel data methods to reduce estimation uncertainty for model parameters, papers that model interactions between units to improve predictions and methods aimed at the extraction of underlying common features are welcome. Topics such as dynamic panels, global and panel VARs, high dimensional VARs, and factor models from both a Bayesian and classical inference perspective are particularly encouraged although submissions from related areas are also welcome.
Please CLICK HERE to register and upload your paper by close of business on Friday, January 4, 2019. We will notify authors of accepted papers via email by Friday, February 1, 2019. We will provide conference presenters hotel accommodations for up to a two-night stay and reimbursement for round-trip airfare on an economy flight and ground transportation.
