I.S.E.O. Summer School in Economics is back with its 17th edition, entitled "The Post Pandemic World Economy".

The panel of the speakers features 5 Nobel Laureates:

  • Angus DEATON, Nobel Prize in Economics 2015;
  • Michael KREMER, Nobel Prize in Economics 2019;
  • Michael SPENCE, Nobel Prize in Economics 2001;
  • Joseph STIGLITZ, Nobel Prize in Economics 2001;
  • Riccardo VALENTINI, Nobel Prize for Peace 2007 (Ipcc)
  • further distinguished professors.

The course, taking place online from the 20th to the 25th June 2021, is reserved to graduate students (Masters and PhD) notably in Economics and in Finance, teaching assistants, researchers and young professionals.

Partial scholarships are available.

The I.S.E.O. Institute is glad to be back with the 17th edition of the international I.S.E.O. Summer School in Economics, taking place online from the 20th to the 25th June 2021.

CONTENTS AND PARTICIPANTS

The course is reserved to graduate students (Masters and PhD) notably in Economics and in Finance, teaching assistants, researchers and young professionals. Past editions of the I.S.E.O. Summer School have been attended by 1.043 participants coming from 103 countries and 366 universities.

The upcoming course - entitled “The Post Pandemic World Economy” -  will investigate some of the biggest issues affecting global economy, including the huge impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Growth, sustainable development, welfare state, inequalities, labour market, emerging economies, and digital technology are just some of the topics which will be covered during the intensive one week course.

Panel of the speakers includes Angus DEATON, Nobel Prize in Economics 2015, Michael KREMER, Nobel Prize in Economics 2019, Michael SPENCE, Nobel Prize in Economics 2001, Joseph STIGLITZ, Nobel Prize in Economics 2001, Riccardo VALENTINI, Nobel Prize for Peace 2007 with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Ipcc) and further distinguished professors whose names will be announced later.

Conducted entirely in English, the I.S.E.O. Summer School  will be based on a fair combination between lectures followed by Q&A session and social activities online.

Lectures will be broadcasted live. Participants will also have on demand access to recorded Summer School lectures, so to review or watch them at their convenience.

“YOUR LECTURE”: PRESENT YOUR PAPER

The I.S.E.O. Institute will give a few participants the chance to present their paper in front of the whole group of students and, possibly, of some speakers. Papers will be discussed during  “Your Lecture” sessions.

ONLINE PARTICIPATION

The I.S.E.O. Institute wish to give participants from all over the world the chance to get the latest research and insights from Nobel Laureates and experts in Economics, even though they can’t make it to travel to Iseo, Italy, due to the pandemic.

Online participants will follow the same academic program we usually offer to on-site participants and will have the same chance to participate, ask questions, join Q&A and attend “Your lecture” sessions.

We will also organize leisure time activities online, such as cooking classes, books presentations and short virtual tours.

APPLICATION, FEE AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Applications must be received by the 2nd of May 2021: in order to apply, applicants must fill in the application form downloadable at this link

The online I.S.E.O. Summer School 2021 fee amounts to:

- 1.100 Euro for graduate students;

- 1.500 Euro  (+ Vat, if applicable) for professionals;

I.S.E.O. Institute awards talented applicants with several partial scholarships amounting to 500 Euro.

Hence, awarded participants have to pay only the remaining part of the fee, namely 600 Euro.

The fee includes:

  • participation to all the lectures organized during the Summer School;
  • reading materials sent via email;
  • speakers' slides;
  • on demand access to recorded Summer School lectures;
  • attendance certificate;
  • participation to social activities online.

THE I.S.E.O. INSTITUTE

The I.S.E.O. Institute is a non profit cultural association chaired by Nobel Laureate in Economics Robert Solow and founded in 1998 by Nobel Laureate Franco Modigliani. The Institute, whose aim is that of organizing conferences and Summer Schools focused on international economics, is based in the picturesque village of Iseo, in Northern Italy.
