Participants who joined at least 80% of all sessions will receive a certificate of participation stating that the summer school is equivalent to a work load of 3 ECTS. Note that it is the student’s own responsibility to get these credits registered at their university.

Tinbergen Institute Summer School 2020 run from July 6 to August 28. Our courses are aimed for students who are up for a challenging and academically rigorous program. The small classes make it easy to interact with the lecturers and to fully explore the specific field.

All courses are conducted entirely in English. Each course has its specific target group but in general the courses are aimed at Graduate students (Research Masters and PhD), researchers, and professionals in Economics, Econometrics, Engineering, Epidemiology, Health, Mathematics, Statistics, or Psychology. All courses offers the possibility to earn ECTS credits.  

2020 edition brings the new course Behavioral Macro and Complexity.

Facilities

Tinbergen Institute offers an excellent infrastructure: our summer school courses will be running at the premises of Tinbergen Institute Amsterdam, campuses of Erasmus University Rotterdam and University of Amsterdam. 

Both Amsterdam and Rotterdam have a lively social and cultural environment, offering numerous theaters, cafés, museums, parks, canals and other opportunities for recreation. Their environs offer more bucolic distractions, such as beaches, sand dunes, waterways, forests and wide-open spaces. Join the stream of locals cycling from home to work, appointments, shopping, and to meet up with friends. More than half of all short trips are made by bike!

Discounts and Scholarships

A number of scholarships are offered for the course Crash Course in Experimental Economics for students enrolled as a current student at one of the U21/LERU universities at the time of the summer program. Please note: students enrolled at Dutch universities that are members of LERU or U21 are not eligible for these scholarships. Reduced fee for participants from countries on the OECD DAC list applies for the course Inequalities in Health and Healthcare.
