Doctoral Program: ECONOMICS

The doctoral program in Economics seeks to produce international-level economists capable of contributing to the advancement of knowledge and expanding the frontiers of research in the economic field and with the aim of pursuing academic or professional careers with international institutions, central banks, economic policy makers, regulatory authorities, consultancy firms and financial institutions.
 
The research themes are:
  • macroeconomics;
  • microeconomics;
  • econometrics;
  • monetary and fiscal policies analysis;
  • financial markets and regulation;
  • industrial economics and competition;
  • individual choice in a context of uncertainty and behavioural economics;
  • economic cycle and growth models.
Selection Method:
 
Evaluation of qualifications and research proposal. In order to evaluate candidates more in depth and in particular their aptitude for research, the commission may decide to call them to an interview, including through Skype.
 
Admissions Commission scoring:
 
Evaluation of qualifications and research proposal. The commission will evaluate the qualifications and the further documentation submitted by the candidates, awarding a numerical score ranging from 0/100 to 100/100 on the basis of the grade obtained in the master’s degree or equivalent qualification, other qualifications, if any, the curriculum vitae, the reference letter, the statement of purpose, GRE and possible works published including the thesis written for the master’s degree or other master’s. Candidates whose overall score is assessed as less than 60/100 will be considered as unsuited for admission.
 
Publication of results of evaluation of qualifications and the ranking of those admitted.
 
By 30 June 2017 the commission will arrange to publish, on the program’s website http://economiaefinanza.luiss.it/en/avvisi/ricerca, the results of its evaluation of qualifications and the final ranking of those admitted in the manner and within the timeframe specified in article 8 of the announcement of the competition.
 
Language/s:
 
The documentation to be submitted by candidates for the purposes of evaluating their qualifications must be in English.
 
Method of submitting the application to participate in the competition

To submit an application to participate in the competition candidates must adhere to the following procedure:
  1. fill out the competition application in full, attaching the required documents:
MANDATORY DOCUMENTS
  1. a certificate/autocertification setting out the exams sat, the grade obtained in each of the said exams, the grade point average and the degree grade (for each degree held);
  2. curriculum vitae (in english) indicating the qualifications held;
  3. ID card/passport
  4. a list of publications in areas pertinent to the doctoral program/or activities of research
  5. GRE
  6. 1 reference letter from a university professor;
  7. a research proposal
  8. statement of purpose: a written statement in English of not more than two pages setting out the reasons that led the candidate to continue their studies, describing their studies so far and briefly indicating their research interests

Doctoral Program: MANAGEMENT

The doctoral program in Management in an international program for talented students who wish to pursue academic or professional careers with consultancy firms, financial institutions, economic policy makers and regulatory authorities.
The research themes are:
  • business strategy;
  • organisational planning and learning;
  • marketing management;
  • accounting and corporate governance;
  • corporate finance;
  • management of innovation;
  • project management;
  • innovation and social entrepreneurship;
  • internationalisation of business;
  • information systems.
Selection Method:
 
Evaluation of qualifications and research proposal. Interview to establish candidates’ reasons for wishing to do the doctoral program and their aptitude for research, either face to face or through Skype
Admissions Commission scoring:
  • Curriculum vitae and qualifications: 40 points for the curriculum vitae, qualifications and publications; only those who have scored at least 20 points will be called to the interview.
  • Research proposal (max. 3 pages): up to a maximum of 30 points; only those who have scored at least 15 points will be called to the interview
  • interview: up to a maximum of 30 points; only those who have scored at least 15 points will be deemed to have passed the interview.
Publication of results of evaluation of qualifications and the ranking of those admitted.
 
By 15 May 2017 the commission will arrange to publish, on the program’s website http://impresaemanagement.luiss.it/en/avvisi/ricerca, the results of its evaluation of qualifications and the list of those that will be called to the interview.
