(1) The candidate will write a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Profs. Muriel Dejemeppe and Bruno Van der Linden on the research project "Age, Women and Employment: An Evaluation". This project aims at evaluating the effectiveness of policies targeted to older workers in order to keep them longer employed or bring them back to work, with a specific focus on women. The project is financed by the Belgian Federal Science Administration and is realized in collaboration with a research team of Ghent University under supervision of Prof. Cockx. (2) In addition to performing the tasks of the research project, the PhD candidate will improve his/her research skills by completing a doctoral training program. (1) You are (or will be in Sept. 2012) holder of a Master degree in Economics (min. 5 years of study), at least completed with honours. Preference is given to students who have completed a second Master year with a research orientation. (2) You can work independently, accurately and systematically. (3) You have an interest in applied quantitative methods, labour economics and micro-econometric evaluation of labour market policies. (4) Capacity of reading French or Dutch is an advantage.
The position is open from Sept. 2012. Appointments are for one year, but with the possibility of renewal for two additional years. Salary net of taxes is of the order of 1,500 € per month. The recruited person benefits from the complete Belgian social insurance scheme without additional expenses. IRES will provide the PhD student with office space and computer facilities.
