*Conference on the Iran’s Economy, 2010 * *University of Chicago, Chicago, IL * *October 15-16, 2010  Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: March 15, 2010  Deadline for Submission of Completed Papers: June 15, 2010* The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) at the University of Chicago (UC) and the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (CSAMES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) announce their joint Conference on Iran’s Economy, 2010, to be held at the University of Chicago on October 15-16, 2010, in collaboration with other academic units. The purpose of the conference is to provide a venue for the best current research on Iran’s economy and to generate information and encouragement for future high quality research in this subject. All papers will be subject to refereeing by the Program Committee.   The conference will cover the travel and lodging costs of one author for each paper are accepted for presentation. Both senior and junior scholars as well as economics PhD students are encouraged to submit abstracts. The criteria for the selection of other papers are: (i) focus on Iran’s economy, (ii) quality of work, especially the use of advanced theoretical and empirical tools of economic analysis, and (iii) history of the authors’ contributions to research on Iran's economy. Criteria (iii) will not be applied to papers submitted by PhD students.   Authors interested in presenting their papers at the conference are requested to submit abstracts of their papers through the conference website, www.IranConference.org [1] by March 15, 2010. Decisions on abstracts will be made by April 15. Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to submit full drafts of their papers are by June 15, 2010.   The authors residing outside Iran are requested to submit one page abstracts, describing concisely the hypotheses, the data, and the methodology of their papers. For this group, the final decision for presentation at the conference will be made based on the final paper.   The authors residing inside Iran are requested to submit detailed abstracts (5-6 pages long, elaborating on hypotheses, the data, and the methodology). Final decisions on this group of submissions will be made based on the detailed abstracts. The authors of accepted abstracts will be informed to initiate their visa process and make their travel plans. Drafts of full papers for this group are still due by June 15. The Program Committee will review the full papers and may request revisions before the conference.   ....
