From May 28th - June 2nd 2017, the Annual NAFSA Conference and Expo will be held in Los Angeles, California.
 
Every year, NAFSA brings together international education specialists and professionals to foster networking and learning among this diverse group, so that global education can be brought to a newer and more improved level. NAFSA’s Annual Conference and Expo lets newcomers and seasoned attendees merge in a mutually beneficial exchange of experience and includes an ample expo hall along with many other concurrent events including plenaries and other networking opportunities. Ultimately, NAFSA facilitates a community building experience.
 

EXPO HALL

 
The conference’s Expo Hall is the arena where universities, recruitment and marketing professionals, drivers of academic and scholastic internationalization, academics and private companies will be permanently stationed so that conference participants can walk around, mingle and get to know each institution better while allowing booth owners a fixed position from which to organize their networking and promotional agendas. It’s the ideal place to make the most connections and get you and your institution closer to your networking, business and administrative goals.
 
 
PEER - TO - PEER NETWORKING
 
Knowledge Communities (KCs) and Member Interest Groups (MIGs) are part of NAFSA’s specialised power-groups which allow attendees to meet, communicate with and exchange learning and information with like-minded people, in their fields of interest, in an informal but influential setting. Among the areas of interest within the KCs are Education Abroad,  International Education Leadership, International Enrollment Management, International Student and Scholar Services and, Teaching, Learning and Scholarship. On the other hand, the MIGs allow attendees to network on the basis of institution type, interest area or field or, country/region.
 
For an even more personal experience, the KC Buddy Program helps connect attendees to enable them to steer through the conference program efficiently and effectively, ensuring their targets are met.
 
NAFSA SECONDARY SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
 
NAFSA is embracing the trend that is gaining momentum in secondary schools whereby they are building, increasing and developing their internationalization by recruiting international students, engaging in and putting emphasis on overseas programs and, incorporating global learning in their respective curricula. This Assembly will bring together the professionals who have helped this movement blossom, and allow them to share and exchange their knowledge and experiences to continue to ensure that secondary school level internationalization keeps on advancing to its fullest potential.
 
PLENARY SESSIONS AND CAREER RELATED SESSIONS AND EVENTS
 
NAFSA’s sessions will cover a wide array of topics ranging from the political to the socio-political, from technology to international security, featuring themes of diversity and acceptance. Leading the plenaries will be Isabel Wilkerson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shirin Ebadi and Abigail Disney.
 
Among the career related sessions and events will be employer information panels, CV reviews, mock interviews, and the ‘ask a mentor’ feature.These are all geared towards developing careers in international education and fostering a productive environment in which to grow these goals.
