It was created with the initiative of a large group of teachers of Applied Economics in Spanish Universities. It aims to facilitate and encourage the teaching and research tasks that are specific to the university environment. It promotes the exchange of teaching experiences and research work , contributing to the cohesion of academic community.
It aims to maintain and strengthen ties with other associations, also to bring together academics from inside and outside of Spain, with preference to the countries with Hispanic influence, in order to share a commitment to academic excellence and academic freedom.
