The Governance and Regulation Chair of the Paris Dauphine-PSL University is opening 3 new doctoral contracts (3 to 4 years) from beginning of October 2020 in Economics and Management.

The candidate's main task will be to prepare a doctoral thesis. The thesis must be undertaken at the University of Dauphine but can also be part of a joint supervision with another university.

Fields: political economy of regulation, issues related to the regulation of specific industries, especially data-driven markets (with application to mobility, network services, etc.), new business models and the challenge they raise in regulated industries (either utilities, transportation, finance, or health), the ecologic transformation of industries (incl. the circular economy), political and bureaucratic decision making in the context of regulated industries.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Candidates for these openings must have a solid background in economics (institutional and organizational economics, industrial organization, political economy, law and economics) or management (strategy and organization) and be familiar with applied analysis. Expertise in the economics of regulation or non-market strategies is preferable but not required.

The doctoral candidates will be working within the research team made of researchers in economics, management, law, and political science. The doctoral candidates are expected to contribute to research projects in the political economy of regulation or on issues related to the regulation of specific industries. A special attention will be given to applicants with an interest for:

  • data-driven markets (with application to mobility, network services, etc.);
  • new business models and the challenge they raise in regulated industries (either utilities, transportation, finance, or health);
  • the ecologic transformation of industries (incl. the circular economy);
  • political and bureaucratic decision making in the context of regulated industries;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in Economics or Management, with a significant focus on quantitative methods.
- Have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in English and a good understanding of French will be considered an advantage.

CONTRACT

 3-year fixed-term contract, renewable once (up to a total of 4 years maximum), starting beginning of October 2020. According to the French standards, the Doctoral Researcher will be paid 18k€ net/year, which include social coverage. He will be expected to have a permanent residence in Paris.
