ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, FACULTY OF HEALTH – Competition Number 19-87A
Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for a temporary full-time Administrative Assistant position for the Faculty of Health for a six-month period. This position is located at our Langley Campus. This position provides an opportunity to be challenged with a variety of responsibilities in an academic environment. Reporting to the Divisional Business Manager, the position will be responsible for providing administrative support for programs offered by the Faculty.
The qualified candidate will have completed a four-year baccalaureate degree from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution and five years of recent related experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory experience. Work experience in a post-secondary environment or in a highly complex administrative environment is an asset.
The successful candidate will possess superior accuracy and attention to detail particularly in editing documents and record-keeping, superior time-management and organizational skills in coordinating events, projects and meeting multiple overlapping deadlines in an office environment with frequent interruptions and changing demands. In addition, the candidate will have extensive experience maintaining databases and updating or maintaining a website. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people in a pleasant and professional manner. The role requires a proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions. Minimum required typing speed is 55 wpm. Experience with financial budgets and familiarity with collective agreements is an asset.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo testing in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, written communication, quantitative skills, and typing.
