Position Title: Analyst, IT Operations - Database

 

 

This position is a member of the Database Team responsible for the administration of the SQL Server and Oracle database environments within CommScope.

 

• Adhere to performance monitoring and alerting standards to ensure IT meets service level requirements. • Develop and implement database strategies that enables innovation and seeks to leverage technology trends and processes that can create business value with agility and performance. • Participate as a member of project teams providing guidance on database architecture, sizing and growth. • Ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks within project duties. • Communicate in both a technical and non-technical manner.  Must be able to listen and understand technical solutions, problems and issues and communicate them and their status for resolution to a non-technical audience.      • Follow and adhere to CommScope’s ITIL change management processes.  

 

Related Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s in related curriculum such as Information Systems with 5+ years’ experience in to Microsoft SQL server administrator /Oracle database server and high-availability environments

SKILLS REQUIRED • A completed Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related curriculum. • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.     • Strong understanding of database, architecture and design of complex globally dispersed distributed database systems. • Thorough understanding Microsoft SQL Server versions 2017, 2016, 2012 and 2008.     • Experience with both Enterprise and Standard editions on SQL Server. • Strong expertise in database, backup and storage technologies such as NetBackup and Data Domain. • Understanding of database management within a virtualized server environment. • Experience with the components of SQL Server such as MDS, SSIS, Always On, Analysis Services and Reporting Services.  • Thorough understanding of backup and restore operations within SQL Server.  • Excellent customer service skills - ability to resolve escalated customer issues in a timely manner. • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation that includes off hour and weekend tasks. • Proven time-management skills – ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a highly reactive environment. • Exposure to other database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and AWS a plus. • Experience in transitioning from Oracle to SQL Server a plus. • ITIL Service Management Essentials or Foundation certified a plus.
