Chapman University seeks applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Political Science, in the Department of Political Science, within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, beginning in August 1, 2020.

Qualifications

Requirements include:
• Doctorate in Political Science or related field by the start date.
• Demonstrated strong research trajectory, including publications and involvement with professional organizations.
• Evidence of teaching excellence, including innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
• Demonstrated capacity to advise graduate and undergraduate students, including on coursework, research projects and career prospects.
• Specialization in the area of Human Security including but not limited to: environmental security (such as climate change adaptation, global health or food security); gender and/or race and security; conflict and/or environmentally induced displacement; poverty and sustainable development; governance issues related to new security paradigms.

Responsibilities

The Department of Political Science and the MA in International Studies program seeks candidates whose research bridges theory and practice, so as to promote and support student engagement in the fields associated with human security. Teaching responsibilities will be split between the Political Science Department and the MA in International Studies Program at Chapman.

Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, service, and advising/mentoring.
