The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at Heidelberg University invites applications for an
ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP (“Juniorprofessor” W1) in MACROECONOMICS
starting in October 2019. The position is available for a period of six years.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out theoretical and/or empirical research in the area of macroeconomics. Teaching in the department’s B.Sc. degree programme Economics (Political Economy) and/or the M.Sc. degree programme Economics is required, in compli- ance with the Baden-Württemberg Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung (regulation on teaching responsibilities). Teaching in English is possible. The course load is relatively light, approximately one course per term.
In accordance with Section 51 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act), the successful candidate is expected to have an excellent Ph.D. in Economics or a related field, good pedagogical skills, and publications in international, peer-reviewed journals in the relevant field. For applicants who have held academic positions in Germany (before or after the doctorate), the total number of years for doctorate and prior post-doctoral employment should not exceed six years.
Provided that the general legal (German civil service law) and budgetary regulations are fulfilled, the appointed candidate can obtain temporary civil service status. The university aims to increase the number of women in areas in which they have been underrepresented until now. Qualified female academics are especially invited to apply.
