The Department of Economics in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking a tenure-track advanced Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor specializing in health economics, effective fall semester 2022, pending available funding.

Responsibilities include effectively teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a stream of high-quality research, participating in activities of the Department, seeking research grants and partnerships, fulfilling professional and university service responsibilities, and directing the Memphis Center for Healthcare Economics. The Department of Economics is an academically diverse, research-oriented group of 9 full-time faculty members with specializations in applied microeconomics, labor economics, urban economics, health economics, international economics, and applied macroeconomics. The Department offers degree programs at all levels and has a NABE-approved Certified Business Economist (CBE) Program. The department’s degree programs are fully accredited by AACSB International. Minimum Position Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned Ph.D. in Economics or a very closely related discipline (advanced ABDs will be considered if degree completion is imminent), a record of effective college teaching and commitment to teaching excellence, and a strong record of research published in major journals in Economics. Academic experience beyond the Ph.D. is preferred. We will consider applicants whose research crosses into other areas of economics, such as public economics, but health economics should be the applicant’s primary field.
