The University of Oregon Department of Economics invites applications for the Nancy and David Petrone Endowed Chair in Economics to begin Fall 2022. This position will carry tenure and candidates will be considered for appointment at either the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Applications from all areas of economics are invited, though preference will be given to candidates whose research complements the department’s research strengths.

Department or Program Summary
The Economics Department at the University of Oregon is a research and instructional department within the College of Arts and Sciences. Department faculty are research leaders in a wide variety of fields in the economics discipline, including labor, public, international, and environmental economics, game theory, industrial organization, and macroeconomics. The Department has active undergraduate and graduate programs that enroll approximately 500 undergraduate majors, 50 doctoral students, and 30 masters students.

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Economics or closely related field
  • Established record of outstanding research that includes a significant number of publications in high-quality scholarly journals in the field of economics
  • Established record of, or otherwise demonstrate skills required for, excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level economics courses

Preferred Qualifications

  • An established record of,  or potential for, high quality mentorship of graduate and undergraduate student research, particularly at the doctoral level
  • Demonstrated success communicating with people from different backgrounds with diverse life experiences and learning styles
  • Demonstrated record of designing and delivering engaging and effective pedagogy
  • Demonstrated success in working in or leading team environments
