We currently have a vacancy for an Associate Professor in any field within Economics. 

Applicants should have an outstanding international reputation within the discipline with a proven record of publishing in high quality, top ranked journals. Research active, applicants should have clear and ambitious plans for future research and be able to demonstrate that their outstanding research will result in further world leading publications. 
Applicants should be able to evidence that they are able to provide leadership in advancing research and teaching, with the ability to be involved in effective departmental administration and are able to contribute to strategic decision making within the Department.

Job purpose 
To undertake research of international quality, in addition to teaching on Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and contributing to administrative duties within the Economics Department. 


Duties and Responsibilities 
Under the direction of the Head of Department, applicants will be expected to: 

1. To undertake and lead research in Economics at an international level. 

2. To seek to publish in journals which are well regarded internationally. 

3. To teach and lead on programmes in the Department of Economics. 

4. To undertake reasonable administrative duties within the Department and to play a leading part in the life of the Department. 

 

Person Specification

The Person Specification focuses on the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications required to undertake the role effectively. This is measured by (a) Application Form, (b) Test/Exercise, (c) Interview, (d) Presentation.

Essential Criteria 1: PhD or equivalent in Economics (a)
Essential Criteria 2: An outstanding record of sustained publication in Economics of high international quality. (a) (c)
Essential Criteria 3: Able to provide significant research leadership in Economics (a) (c) (d)
Essential Criteria 4: Able and willing to contribute to the high quality of teaching on the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes within the Department of Economics (a) (c)
Essential Criteria 5: Willingness to contribute to the administration and general life of the Department. (a) (c)
Essential Criteria 6: Able to take on a significant leadership role within the Department. (c)
Essential Criteria 7: Support junior colleagues through the academic probation process (a) (c)
