Job description: The doctoral student enters an interdisciplinary environment at the intersection of applied development economics and political science. Our areas of expertise include political economy, foreign aid, migration, and international organizations – all with a focus on economic development.
Job profile and requirements: Candidates are expected to have an excellent university degree (master or equivalent, 1.5 or better on the German grading scale) in economics or political science with emphasis on applied methods. Proficiency in English in speaking and writing is essential (knowledge of German is helpful but not necessary). Excellent skills in econometrics are required. Knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) software would be helpful.
We offer a three-year fixed-term contract, renewable for another two years. As a doctoral student, you are expected to write your dissertation in an area related to the research interests of the Chair and contribute to the Chair’s teaching activities (2 hours per week). Participation in Ph.D. courses is expected. The salary is based on the collective bargaining agreement of the German federal states (TV-L E13).
