Full-time professorship
for “Business administration, esp. Information Systems
with a focus on Smart Services” (Salary W3)

to be filled as a tenured civil servant.

We are looking for a team-oriented and dedicated personality whose research activities are business-oriented and could be affiliated with the departmental research clusters “Governance and Compliance” and “Marketing and Consumer Science.” We are particularly looking for applicants with a qualitative or quantitative empirical focus on questions related to digital services.

They should have a proven track record in at least one of the following areas:

  • Design and impact of smart services (e.g., using technologies such as artificial Intelligence and machine learning; innovative process automation methods for digital services, IoT)
  • Governance of smart services (e.g., data governance and compliance, IT risk management and information security, service orchestration in ecosystems)
  • Acceptance and diffusion of smart services (e.g., effects of risk, security, interoperability, and integration).

Promising candidates have excellent publications in leading international journals in the information systems community, have a distinct research profile addressing topics that demonstrably facilitates links to practice, are methodologically qualified, and have experience with the acquisition and realization of third-party funding projects (DFG, EU, VW, federal ministries). Experience in collaborating with industry partners is of central importance. The applicant’s profile should be complementary to the existing professorships of the faculty in research and teaching.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate business classes and to contribute actively to our doctoral program and the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences. The university emphasizes research-oriented teaching. The successful candidate is expected to offer courses in English and it will be appreciated if the professorship participates in inter-faculty research collaborations. The acquisition of third-party funds is also expected.

Preconditions for an appointment are laid down in section 25 NHG of the Higher Education Law of Lower Saxony. Candidates who have received their doctorate from the University of Goettingen can usually only be considered if they have been scientifically active for at least two years after the Ph.D. outside the University of Goettingen. If the requirements are met, the applicant will be hired as a civil servant. As a Public Law Foundation, the University of Goettingen has the right to appoint professors.
