Overview

Job Summary: Responsible for the daily operations in Central Sample Control. Specific responsibilities include: Capacity Planning, Scheduling, Harmonization of Processes and Procedures, LIMs Super User, coordinating sample transfers between multiple facilities, receipt, storage and distribution of sample materials to internal customers, and data driven process improvements. This role requires being current on Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct the operational activities of the Central Sample Control department in accordance with company standards through effective communication with team members, peers, and management.
  • Contribute to the achievement of goals established for the department through effective inventory control and efficient execution of receiving and processing daily receipts, returns, transfers and internal customer requests.
  • Manage staff by training, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Coordinate transfer of samples/materials between multiple facilities
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, investigates discrepancies, corrects errors
  • Evaluate current systems and procedures for continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement process improvements within the department
  • Drive metric tracking and trending
  • Interact with Project Management and clients to resolve sample related issues
  • Hiring and training of department staff
  • Ensure cGXP, regulatory and site policy compliance, and that departmental procedures and processes meet quality standards
  • Contribute to overall site operations
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating updated organizational information, job expectations & supporting their work
  • Plans, monitors, and appraises direct reports including performance competencies, goals & job results
  • Coaches, counsels, and conducts disciplinary actions
  • Develops, coordinates, and follows organizational systems, policies, procedures, and follows labor and capacity standards

Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant technical experience and min 2 years Managing people
  • BS/BA in Science related field preferred; or combination of relevant 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong organization, time management, leadership and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to safety
  • Evaluate technical data and write technical documents.
  • Read, write and understand spoken English
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

 

  • Must be able to work in Lab setting with Biohazards /various Chemicals
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
  • Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
  • Clarity of Vision
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
  • Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
  • Inside/outside working conditions
