Researcher / analyst
The Chancellor's Business Office supports the Chancellor's Immediate Office and Administrative Units with all matters related to Budget, Financial Management, Business Operations and Human Resources. In addition, the office supports the Chancellor’s leadership by providing administrative, organizational, and strategy development to advance the Chancellor’s vision and to execute campus priorities as identified in UC San Diego’s strategic plan.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Business & Finance/University Treasurer, the Personnel & Financial Analyst is responsible for the comprehensive human resources and fiscal management for the Chancellor's Immediate Office and Administrative Units. Manages the Classification/Compensation and Recruitment processes for all units. Responsible for the development and implementation of a VC-wide professional development and mandatory training program.
Provides resource support to units regarding matters related to budget, financial management and business operations. Serves as Department Contact for Internal Audit, General Accounting and other central offices. Responsible for payroll administration and the management of Payroll & Personnel System (PPS). Serves as a Department Security Administrator (DSA).

Experience with Human Resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience with human resources management system (HRMS), and/or other related business software programs and systems.
Experience with payroll/timekeeping process, including experience resolving payroll associated issues and recommending solutions to problematic situations.
Knowledge of concepts of accounting principles including fund accounting, internal control standards and cost accounting.
Analytical ability to review/analyze projects, gather data, find solutions and make recommendations involving calculations and financial data.
Working knowledge of other areas of HR. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures and communicate them, orally and in writing, to diverse groups at all levels of the organization.
Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments.
Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.
Ability to apply high ethical standards and confidentiality in business practices.
