About the department:
The department has proven its competence in the field of banking and finance education with the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) accreditation from Germany it received in 2014. Our students get the chance of improving their written and oral communication and individual research skills. In addition to this, in many courses, much of the weight is given to term projects, assignments and practical application of knowledge and skills. We believe, this approach is an advantage for our graduates after their graduation, when they are looking for jobs. The department’s research covers a broad spectrum of key areas in finance: Asset Pricing, Financial Derivatives, Risk Management, Commodities, Portfolio and Wealth Management, Macro-Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity, Corporate Governance, Real Estate and Corporate Bankruptcy, Financial Econometrics, Financial Intermediation, Market Microstructure, Banking and Credit Risk, Insurance Economics and Energy.
About the program:
The Ph.D in Finance provides students the opportunity to specialize in the field of finance and banking by offering graduate courses and thesis at the doctoral level. The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in financial theory as well as applied financial econometrics skills. In collaboration with a designated advisor, students can specialize in particular areas of finance including banking through a program of elective courses and dissertation research. The prospective students must have a strong academic background in the quantitative methods.
Candidates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The candidate will pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate's own academic work.
The requirements will generally be met by applicants with masters in finance or related field, like economics or statistics.
Further qualifications include:
• Experience in dealing with databases;
• Knowledge of statistical programs such as E-VIEWS, SPSS, STATA or R;
• Excellent English language skills (spoken and written)
• motivation to produce top-level research
The graduate committee will carefully review every application, which must include the following documents:

• Proof of English proficiency
• Research proposal (approximately 2000-2500 words) explaining your research idea.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide two recommendation letters.
