The Department of Finance at the University of Luxembourg invites students to apply for PhD-student positions in Finance.

The doctoral researcher will be a member of the Department of Finance, which is located in the financial center of Luxembourg at Campus Kirchberg. The department consists of more than 15 full-time, research-oriented faculty members and provides an international and stimulating environment with regular top research seminars and several top-quality conferences.

The department collaborates with the Luxembourg financial center, the European Stability Mechanism, the Central Bank of Luxembourg and other economics and financial institutions located in Luxembourg.


Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with (A) a genuine interest in Finance, Economics or Statistics/Econometrics, (B) excellent quantitative and computational skills, and (C) a good command of written and spoken English who (D) already hold a research-oriented Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Financial engineering, Econometrics, Statistics or other related fields (ideally with a quantitative focus).

Candidates who do not yet hold a research-oriented Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields are also encouraged to apply. In this case, depending on the specific student’s degree, the full program or some additional courses of the MSc in Quantitative Economics & Finance (MScQEF) at the University of Luxembourg have to be completed in the first year. Candidates with a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or another quantitative subject are particularly encouraged to apply.


Funding

Full-time positions with a competitive salary are available for candidates who already hold a relevant research-oriented Master’s Degree.

Scholarships are available for candidates who need to complete the MSc in Quantitative Economics & Finance in their first year.
