We may not be John Maynard Keynes, but we take the values of dignity, prosperity and democracy seriously. Our current economic system does not. Help us change that.

We're looking for Policy Experts who are willing to think big, dig deep, and polish economic and fiscal policy proposals until they both stand up to the scrutiny of other experts and bring about meaningful change. We see our role as providing you with the best possible support in this process.

Our aim and the focus of our daily work is to make useful policy proposals that politicians can ideally implement today.

We offer you an environment in which you and your ideas can develop into the best version of itself. And a platform that can carry these ideas into public debate, whether through German and English daily and weekly newspaperspublications in journals for experts and public administrationpodcastsinterviews, or - quite classically - on television.

Priority areas for recruiting are: European fiscal and monetary policy, labour markets, energy and industrial policy, pension and social security systems all with a focus on Europe and Germany.

Your role: Together with the head of the Dezernat, you are responsible for the personnel and strategic direction of the research area, you develop policy papers with analysts and communicate your policy ideas vis a vis media, decision-makers and subject matter experts. Ideally, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to build up the Dezernat as a relatively young Think Tank in the political and academic landscape.

What we expect: You do not need to have a specific background but should be able to demonstrate significant professional experience - preferably in public administration - or a very good scientific education.

What we offer: We pay according to the collective bargaining agreement of the public sector. Our office is located in Berlin; working from a home office can be arranged on an individual basis. No German language skills required. We also welcome applicants from public institutions who are planning a sabbatical.

The organisation: Dezernat Zukunft - Institute for Macrofinance is a German macrofinance think tank and registered charity founded in 2018. We are headquartered in Berlin and co-led by the political economist Max Krahé, who wrote his dissertation on the relationship of democracy and capitalism and Philippa Sigl-Glöckner, a former Ministry of Finance official and World Banker. Over the past year, our focus has been on fiscal policy, see for instance our paper on a new fiscal policy for Germany and a reform proposal for the preventive arm of the Stability and Growth Pact.

Application process: Interested? Please send us your CV and a letter of application with answers to the following questions:
    1.    which area would you like to work on?
    2.    what’s an idea that you would like to pursue?
    3.    why do you have the necessary expertise to tackle this topic?

to info@dezernatzukunft.org. We recruit on a rolling basis, so get your letter in asap.

We are very much looking forward to hearing from you!
