Duties and responsibilities: The postdoctoral researcher will work on projects that aim to investigate the precursors of logical operations in early development targeting various cognitive processes that contribute to abstract combinatorial thought involved in reasoning and problem-solving. We plan to explore the ontogenetic precursors of logical connectives, quantification, and different forms of deductive inferences (e.g. reasoning by exclusion, denial of the consequent, etc.) and the way this repertoire is integrated with other kinds of information in different cognitive domains (e.g. causal knowledge while learning about artifacts). The project and the candidate will benefit of the rich and lively research environment at the CDC that covers broad areas of cognitive development.
