The University of Milan is a major research and teaching institution located in one of Europe’s most thriving cities. According to RepEc, the Department of Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods – DEMM is one of the top five departments of economics in Italy and in the top four percent in Europe. The recent Italian research evaluation exercise (VQR 2011-2014) placed DEMM among the top 10 departments in the area of economics, management and statistics in Italy.

Job type: Post-doctoral research fellow, full-time, fixed term for 24 months (renewable for other 24 months).

Net annual salary: 19,000€ approximately.

Expected Start Date: January 2018 or later depending on mutual agreement.

DEMM invites expression of interests for a postdoctoral position with indicative starting date January 2018 (or later depending on mutual agreement). The position will last two years, renewable for other two years conditional upon satisfactory performance.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in innovation studies, a strong research focus and an extensive training in theory and methodology. Notably, expertise in working on PATSTAT, European Patent Register, Bureau Van Dijk’s databases and SDC Platinum (Thomson Reuters) and conducting semi-structured interviews is a plus. We expect candidates to have a true commitment to publishing in international peer- reviewed journals. The selected candidate will directly collaborate with faculty on the research project “The role of patent intermediaries in markets for technology”.
