The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Georg-August-University Göttingen invites applications for a
Professorship (W3) in “Economics of Sustainable Agri-Food Systems“
(salary commensurate with W3 BBesO, all genders welcome)
to begin as soon as possible.
We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated scientist who deals with the socio-economic aspects of sustainable food systems. Candidates should have a strong track record of publication in leading international journals in agricultural and/or development economics. Possible areas of interest include the transformation of global agri-food systems and implications for agricultural production, poverty, food security, human health and the environment, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation. The professorship embraces an international research agenda, preferably with a focus on developing and transition countries. Successful applicants should be able to represent the subject in its entire breadth.
The professorship is one of the core professorships of the faculty and is integrated in several study programs, including international study programs offered in cooperation with other faculties (B.Sc. and M.Sc. Agricultural Sciences, M.Sc. Sustainable International Agriculture, M.Sc. Development Economics, Ph.D. programs). The willingness to further develop the curricula in cooperation with colleagues (also beyond faculty boundaries) is expected. The successful candidate will be able to teach in both German and English (after a training period, if necessary).
We are looking for a researcher with outstanding expertise in empirical research and in the application of advanced quantitative methods. Interdisciplinary cooperation as well as cooperation in third-party funded (e.g. DFG) research collaborations are expected. We offer excellent opportunities for research collaborations within the faculty of Agricultural Sciences and with other faculties at the University of Göttingen (e.g., economics, forestry, biology). Researchers at an early career stage, who have experience with the acquisition and implementation of research projects and are committed to excellent, research-oriented teaching are also encouraged to apply.
Legal requirements for the position are outlined in §25 of the Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz in its currently valid version. Candidates who completed their PhDs at the University of Göttingen can only be considered for this position if they have been employed as scientists outside the University of Göttingen for at least two years since completing their PhDs. In case the prerequisites are met employment as a civil servant is possible. The University of Goettingen holds the right of appeal. More details will be provided upon request.
