The Department of International and Institutional Economics at the International Institute of Management and Economic Education at Europa-Universität Flensburg seeks to fill by March 2020 (or by an agreed-on date) the position of
Research and teaching associate (highly skilled)
(Salary Grade TV‐L 13, 50 %)
Aimed at supporting early-stage research leading to a completed doctoral degree, this position is initially limited to a period of three years. An extension of up to three years may be granted.
- To teach courses (2 SWS) in the field of international economics
- To carry out independent research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcel Smolka, with the aim of earning a doctorate in the field of international economics
- To support the department with the organization of teaching and research activities
Required qualifications for this position include:
- A university degree (master's degree or comparable) in economics, with some relevance to foreign trade issues and a minimum overall grade of “good”/”gut”.
- Very good knowledge of econometric methods application
- Excellent English skills (level C1)
The department maintains close academic ties to the Department of Economics and Business Economics of the University of Aarhus (Denmark) and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW). Participation in scholarly exchange activities (seminars, workshops, research stays, etc.) with researchers from Aarhus and Kiel is expected and will be promoted accordingly.
As the department would like to expand its teaching and research into the Spanish-speaking world, we welcome applications from persons with teaching and/or research interests in this area. If the selected candidate is fluent in Spanish, she or he may teach courses in Spanish.
For training purposes, Europa-Universität Flensburg offers ongoing free language courses to all of its employees.
