The Chair of Development Economics and the Center for Development and Cooperation (NADEL) at ETH Zurich are offering a research assistant position in Development Economics.
Research Assistant in Development Economics (80-100%)
Candidates should be interested in participating in larger research projects on empirical development economics. The potential candidate will mainly help to start various research projects by setting up, coding, cleaning and analyzing large data sets. Literature reviews and supervision of pilot surveys in SSA might also be part of the job. This position is an excellent launch pad for a graduate exploring a career in academia. Starting time is November 1st (or later) 2017 for 6 months extendable to 1 year. The position will be paid according to ETH Zurich guidelines.
A Master’s degree in economics or statistics is preferred, but ambitious candidates with a degree in a related discipline are also eligible and welcome to apply. The candidate must have a strong background in quantitative methods, loves working with data for days, and is interested in development economics. Applicants must also speak and write English fluently. A working knowledge of the statistical software STATA is required and a willingness to learn and apply other programs for data collection and analysis is expected. If the candidate has also some experience with conducting or analyzing household survey data in low-income settings, s/he is the ideal candidate.
