The Faculty of Statistics at TU Dortmund University invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant in Econometrics (m/f/d) to begin as soon as possible. The duration of the contract for this 75% position is three years with the option of extension. The salary follows the regulations of the collective bargaining law in salary class 13 TV-L. We seek candidates that hold (or expect to complete in the near future) a university degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, economics, physics, engineering or related fields with a strong background in mathematics and/or statistics and/or econometrics. Candidates with interest in machine learning and/or big data techniques are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to have affinity for innovative teaching and good knowledge of relevant software environments (e.g. R, Matlab, or GAUSS). Knowledge of German language will be considered an advantage.
The tasks of successful candidates comprise research with the possibility of scientific qualification (i.e. obtaining a PhD), adequate involvement in teaching (3 SWS) and support in administrative tasks. Successful candidates are expected to further develop statistical and econometric methods, with a focus on the research areas of the chair; and/or to apply the developed methods innovatively.
