The Deutsche Bundesbank is an integral part of the ESCB and, as one of the world’s largest central banks, works in the public interest. Our
business areas are monetary policy, banking supervision, financial stability, cash management and payment systems.

To work in the Research Centre at our Central Office in Frankfurt am Main, initially on a two-year contract, we are looking to recruit a Research Assistant (part-time 50%)

What the job entails

You will support the Head of Research in producing academic papers and analyses in areas such as macro-finance, monetary economics and financial intermediation.

Working in an international team, you will contribute to the Deutsche Bundesbank's decision-making process by providing insights into fundamental issues based on academic research. In your work, you will have access to an excellent IT and data infrastructure and have contact with leading international academics.

What we are looking for

  • Accredited master's degree or equivalent qualification in a degree programme with a quantitative focus (e.g. economics or finance) and very good results
  • Working towards a Ph.D. or enrolment in a Ph.D. programme in Economics or Finance
  • Very Good knowledge of empirical methods and economic theory
  • Experience using mathematical statistical applications such as Matlab or Stata
  • Good knowledge of data services such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon or FactSet as well as sound programming skills, e.g. in Python, would be an advantage
  • Very Good command of written and spoken English

The remuneration for this position corresponds to pay grade 13 of the wage agreement for the public sector (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst) plus a bank allowance.
