The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 1 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences on 1. Oktober 2019. This is a fixed term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The initial fixed term is three years. The position calls for 75% of standard work hours per week.*
Responsibilities: Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particu-lar a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.
Specific Duties: The successful candidate is expected to participate in the academic activities of the research group where the focus is on applied microeconomics, in particular contracts and incentives, industrial organization, behavioral economics and Law & Economics. Methodologically, a strong background in microeconomic theory (game theory) is expected as well as prior ex-perience with experimental economics. The position involves the teaching of tutorials as well as the supervision of students in seminars (3 teaching hours per week, mostly in German).
Requirements: A university degree in a relevant field. Very good English skills.
