DIE’s research Program Transformation of Economic and Social Systems is looking for a Researcher (m/f/diverse). As a member of DIE’s World Economy and Development Finance cluster, the researcher will conduct research and provide policy advice on shaping the global economy in the context of sustainable development with a focus on international trade and/or Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).

Researcher (m/f/diverse)

Full time 100% up (39 hours/week) 

Salary from € 51.000 p.a. up to € 80.000 p.a.

(German public sector tariff, TVöD Bund 14 depending on qualifications)

The position is limited until 30 November 2021 (a possible extension until 30 November 2022 is subject to consultation and approval).

As a member of DIE’s World Economy and Development Finance cluster, the researcher will conduct research and provide policy advice on shaping the global economy in the context of sustainable development with a focus on international trade and/or Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Excellent academic record based on a PhD in economics;
  • Research on international trade and/or Foreign Direct Investment (FDI); a focus on developing countries is an asset;
  • Strong skills in quantitative methods;
  • Experience with third-party funding acquisition is an asset;
  • Willingness to engage in policy advice; previous experience is an asset;
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; knowledge of German and other major international language is an asset;
  • Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).
