Aston Business School, located in the heart of Birmingham - England’s second largest city - seeks to appoint a highly motivated, ambitious academic with the ability and interest in providing excellence in learning and teaching in the field of Finance.
The holder of this post will influence the future direction of the Department of Economics, Finance and Entrepreneurship in the development of taught finance programmes at UG and PG level. Please visit our webpage to familiarise yourself with our department: (https://www2.aston.ac.uk/aston-business-school/research/departments/efeg/index).
We are very much open to academics who have a background in any area of Finance but we do have a need for someone who has expertise in Behavioural Finance and Financial Econometrics. Furthermore, in the near future we are about to revamp our BSc Finance degree and to integrate Bloomberg Software in to our teaching so an innovative practitioner who has the capability to introduce new technology in to their pedagogy would be very appealing. Furthermore, for this senior academic post our expectation is that you have significant experience, leading teams and developing/enhancing new or existing programmes.
We would encourage any interested candidates to look at our department’s staff profiles and the programmes we deliver to see if there are synergies with their pedagogy and research. (https://www2.aston.ac.uk/aston-business-school/research/departments/efeg/staff/index).
The appointed candidate will be expected to play a prominent role in the success and development of our finance offering. The usual teaching load for a post like this constitutes 4 modules across the academic year, although there may be some variance. Furthermore, the appointed academic will also be expected to supervise master’s students and students on industrial placements.
We also anticipate that the appointed candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership in learning and teaching and be an innovative and reflective practitioner. A teaching qualification is very much desirable at this level. However, if you are a candidate who is just nearing the completion of your PhD we will invest in you by enabling you to do a PGCert in L&T. The role will be located in Birmingham and there is a requirement for you to live within commuting distance of the Aston Triangle main campus. This would usually mean living within 45 miles of the campus.
