Are you interested in modern economic analysis and application of economic tools to solving real-world problems? Would you like to understand how economic concepts can contribute to policymaking and addressing pressing societal challenges? Studying the Applied Economics programme at the Technical University of Ostrava will help you develop analytical and creative skills to tackle these issues. You will gain a practical and comprehensive knowledge of economics at a household and firm, country, European and global level. The programme provides in-depth training in the contemporary tools and methods used in solving complex economic policy issues, industry trends, and strategies within specialized fields of economics with emphasis on labour, monetary, development and international economics. You will gain strong skills in both applied economic modelling and data analytics, including statistics and econometrics, to tackle research and analysis of various economic problems.
After bachelor study you will be a good candidate for jobs not only in public administration but also in human resources, foreign trade or project and subsidy management. As a master’s programme graduate you can work in governmental organizations and public administration, in regional, European or international organizations, in the financial sector, prestigious consultancy firms or managerial positions of major companies. After graduating from the master´s programme, you can also advance your knowledge and analytical skills in doctoral study programme in economics.
You can broaden your knowledge and experience with an option to study abroad or apply for a professional placement in the Czech companies or abroad.
You can study the Applied Economics programme in two specializations, Economic Development or International Economic Relations.
