The goal of this project will be to continue the shared intern program and hire natural resource interns to assist with MNRR and Missouri River Institute projects for FY20 and beyond. Projects will focus on scientific research, land management, inventory and monitoring, and environmental education. This project seeks to gives students real hands on work experience, benefit cooperative partners and local communities, increase scientific knowledge, engage youth and help instill a stewardship ethic, and to promote recruitment of diverse candidates that are more reflective of the makeup of the citizens of the United States. Work cooperatively to develop the Missouri River Natural Resources Intern Program. Announce the internship via National Park Service and University of South Dakota outlets. Hire and supervise interns collaboratively while completing Missouri River Institute and National Park Service projects. Collaboratively evaluate the intern program at the end of year one and conduct intern evaluations at end of the intern employment with input from the Missouri National Recreational River.
