The Department of Economics (AE1) of Maastricht University (Netherlands) offers tenure track Assistant Professorship positions in Microeconomics (esp. Economic Theory, Industrial Organization), Public Economics (esp. micro-based), Behavioral-, Experimental-, and Neuroeconomics to commence in 2015.


Successful applicants contribute to research and teaching (in English) in the areas described above. Administrative duties will be limited.


  • Ph.D. in Economics or a related field (completed or nearly completed)

  • Strong affinity with academic research and teaching

  • Strong research orientation


Tenure track positions are initially offered for a three-year period and, subject to a positive midterm evaluation, extended by another three years, with the possibility of tenure thereafter. Salary is competitive and ranges (depending on qualifications and experience) from EUR 3259 to EUR 5070 per month (12 monthly payments) for a full-time employment. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end of year allowance. Non-Dutch applicants may be eligible for favourable tax treatment.
