PhD Lausanne Macroeconomics Conference

The Department of Economics at the University of Lausanne will host a two-day PhD conference in macroeconomics on December 4–5, 2025, co-financed by CIVIS and the Swiss National Bank fund at HEC Lausanne. The event aims to foster academic exchange between leading senior researchers and PhD students in macroeconomics.

The program will feature 12 presentations by PhD candidates or Postdocs, each accompanied by a discussion led by a senior expert, as well as two keynote lectures by Carlos Thomas (Bank of Spain) and Matteo Maggiori (Stanford University – online).

We invite submissions from PhD and postdoctoral students in all areas of macroeconomics, including but not limited to:

• Firm Dynamics and Productivity
• Heterogeneity and Monetary Policy
• International Macroeconomics and Finance
• International Trade and Geopolitical Risks
• Monetary and Fiscal Policy
• Macroeconomics of Climate Change

There are no application or registration fees. Catering and the conference dinner are provided; presenters are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation.
