LIS and the UK LIS Satellite Office at the International Inequalities Institute (III) invite scholars working in the field of comparative economic inequality to contribute to the 3rd III/LIS Comparative Economic Inequality Conference.

LIS and the UK LIS Satellite Office at the International Inequalities Institute (III) invite scholars working in the field of comparative economic inequality to contribute to the 3rd III/LIS Comparative Economic Inequality Conference on 11-12 February 2027 at the London School of Economics (LSE).

We invite submissions from scholars at all levels of seniority who are working on comparative economic inequality, broadly interpreted. Topics might include (but are not restricted to) inequalities in income, wealth, debt, gender, race, class, space.

We are particularly interested in papers looking at cross-country differences using LIS/LWS or similar data but are also open to comparative work focusing on inequalities across different socio-demographic or socio-economic groups within countries. The conference focus is on inequality data, measurement and methods, but not restricted to this.

Confirmed Keynote Speakers
Paula England, NYU Abu Dhabi
A second keynote speaker is still to be confirmed

Submissions

Please send a title and either a complete draft (including an abstract) or, if not yet available, an extended abstract (approximately 2 pages), to iii.Lis@lse.ac.uk, and iii.lis@lisdatacenter.org

Special Session – Luxembourg Consumption Study (LCS) Database

For the first time, the conference will feature a special session dedicated to research using the LCS (Luxembourg Consumption Study) database, coinciding with its official launch. The LCS is LIS’s new harmonised database on household consumption and expenditure, completing LIS’s income–consumption–wealth data framework.

As the Beta release of the data will become available on September 15th, 2026, authors are welcome to submit abstracts describing research they plan to conduct using the LCS Database, based on the documentation currently available on the LIS website.

Scientific Committee

Prof Dr. Philippe van Kerm (LIS), Prof Dr. Nora Waitkus (LSE), Prof. Dr. H. Xavier Jara (LSE), Dr. Severin Rapp, Teresa Munzi (LIS), Dr. Kun Lee (LIS)
