Workshop on Language Economics and Policy

The workshop invites submissions of papers exploring the economic implications of language in a broad sense, as well as the economic impact of language-related policies. Submissions may include theoretical or applied research, though priority will be given to empirical studies employing robust identification strategies to establish causal effects.

We welcome both full papers and extended abstracts. Extended abstracts should clearly describe the research question, its contribution to the literature, the data used, the identification strategy, and (if available) preliminary results. However, full papers will be prioritized during the selection process. Please, submit your work in PDF format to languageeconpolworkshop@gmail.com.

There is no registration fee for the workshop. However, participants are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses. An informal dinner for workshop participants will be organized on May 29.

The workshop is part of the research project “The Causal Effects of Language-in-Education Policies and Language Training in a Bilingual Society: Novel Evidence for the Case of Catalonia”, funded by the Institut d’Estudis de l'Autogovern (PRE166/23/000004).
