The Heidelberg Health Economics Summer School 2026 Core Program (Module II), an intense three-day scientific program offered by the Institute for Innovation & Valuation in Health Care (InnoVal-HC) under the auspices of the Heidelberg University (Germany), will be a unique opportunity for an in-depth exchange with international thought leaders in the theory, practice, and evolution of using health economic evaluations to inform health technology assessments (HTAs).

"Challenging Health Economics – A Systematic Account of Economic Evaluations for HTAs" 

The Summer School 2026 Core Program (Module II) will focus on important aspects and address relevant topics related to health technology assessment (HTA) & economic evaluation in theory & practice, such as

  • Rationale. Why Economic Evaluation?
  • Conventional Logic. Health Economic Cost/ Value Assessments (CBA, CEA, HRQoL)
  • Challenges. Deficiencies, Social Norms & Preferences as well as Potential Solutions
  • Patients’ Experience & Preferences. Patients’ Perspective & PROs and Socioeconomic Impact Analysis
  • Integration. Citizens’ Expectations & Preferences
  • Ways Forward for HTA including Economic Evaluation.

The highly active program is aimed for academics, physicians & pharmacists and professionals.
Module II will be most suitable for executives in (senior) commercial functions, market access, and health policy-makers concerned with HTAs and economic evaluation. It will be also of interest to advanced scholars in the field who wish to actively participate in shaping the future development of the regulatory environment with regard to patient access, financing, pricing, and reimbursement policies in the health care sector.

A limited number of participants (~30 plus faculty & presenters) will allow for an intense exchange in the Maki Forum (mre) in Wiesbaden / Germany

In addition to an intense scientific program participants will be invited to an evening event and a guided tour in the Museum Reinhard Ernst.
