About the Position

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit Assistant Professors in Economics in the School of Economics. We are seeking emerging scholars who demonstrate outstanding potential in research and teaching, with a preference for candidates specializing in Macroeconomics (both theoretical and applied), Microeconomics (applied micro, labor, health, industrial organization, financial economics) or Applied Econometrics (including causal inference, machine learning, program evaluation, data science).

The successful candidate will contribute to our School’s mission through a rigorous research program, high-quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and active service.

Your Responsibilities

• To take the lead on, plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives, projects and proposals either as an individual or as part of a broader programme.
• To establish a national reputation and regularly disseminate and explain research findings through leading peer-reviewed national publications (on a sustained basis), conferences and other appropriate media.
• To generate income by developing and winning support for innovative research proposals and funding bids.
• To deliver teaching across a range of modules or within a subject area, providing curriculum leadership within own area of expertise.
• To supervise and examine Postgraduate, Masters and PhD students.
• Be responsible for the safe conduct of work within work area and teaching responsibilities ensuring that the School's arrangements for compliance with the University Safety Policy are implemented.

About You

• Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field must be completed by the appointment start date.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to devise, advise on and manage learning and research programmes.
• At least 2 years relevant teaching and research experience in higher education sector.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

The successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract for up to 5 years, subject to mutual agreement. Salary within the range of RMB 450,190 to RMB 592,815 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. You will have a range of benefits and entitlements.
