The Dean of the School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS) at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s academic and administrative operations. This position involves strategic planning, faculty management, policy development, budgeting, and ensuring the quality and relevance of academic programs.
The ideal candidate will be appointed as a professor in accordance with IBA criteria. The appointment is for a three-year term, after which the individual will resume duties as Professor.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for SESS, ensuring alignment with IBA’s overarching institutional goals.
- Lead initiatives to build the school’s reputation in social sciences and humanities.
- Advocate for the significance of these disciplines within academia and broader society.
- Foster an inclusive, innovative academic culture reflecting the values of SESS.
2. Policy Development:
- Address policy gaps, such as recognizing scholarship in journalism, creative arts, and humanities.
- Design new policies to continuously improve curriculum, research, and academic programs.
- Revise and amend existing policies as needed to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs, maintaining rigour and relevance in social sciences and humanities.
3. Faculty Development, Academic and Research Support:
- To ensure recruitment, mentoring, and retaining talented faculty.
- Facilitate communication with international faculty and explore opportunities for global collaboration in specialized areas.
- Promote research, ensuring faculty contributions are acknowledged and supported.
- Provide professional development opportunities and foster a collaborative academic environment.
- Foster a healthy culture of debate, research, and academic inquiry.
- Fulfill teaching, research, and student supervision responsibilities in line with the role of a professor.
4. Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
- Manage the school’s budget, recognizing the unique cost structures of practice-based disciplines.
- Advocate for resources to support the school’s growth and sustainability.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses incorporating the long-term impacts of humanities and creative arts disciplines on the school’s advancement.
5. Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Enhance the school’s visibility by effectively communicating the value and benefits of its disciplines.
- Build partnerships with industry, government, NGOs, and academic institutions to create opportunities for students and faculty.
- Ensure the regular talks/seminars of high-quality international faculty/ scholars.
- International customized linkages with the world’s best universities
- Represent SESS at academic and professional events at both local and international levels.
6. Administrative Responsibilities:
- Oversee academic operations, including admissions, curriculum development, faculty evaluations, and student success initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
- Provide regular reports to the Executive Director and IBA’s Board on the school’s progress and challenges.
- Foster collaboration within SESS departments and across other schools/centers.
- Maintain records of school policies and mechanisms of archiving the minutes of different important committees, councils, and boards
- Adhere to HEC/QEC policies and ensure their requirements are fulfilled.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- The ideal candidate should have a PhD Degree from HEC recognized University/Institute in the relevant discipline.
- Fulfillment of Professor-Level criteria as per IBA & HEC criteria. *
- The ideal candidate should have experience in higher education as per IBA & HEC criteria, including leadership roles within an academic or research environment.

- Demonstrated academic excellence, strong research acumen, and the ability to inspire, develop, and lead performance across all levels of the school.
- Proven track record of effective teamwork, collaboration, and fostering a progressive and inclusive academic environment.
