Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Urban Planning and Management

Title of the postdoc project: “Analysis and assessment of costs associated with urban sprawl, focusing on infrastructure networks and accessibility under trend-based and induced scenarios.”

The selected candidate will take part in a multidisciplinary project involving the fields of Urban Planning, Economics, Transport Engineering and Environmental Engineering, focusing on the consequences of urban expansion in cities within the state of São Paulo (Brazil). The researcher will work directly in the field of urban planning, interfacing with urban economics, transport engineering, and environmental engineering.

The candidate must have solid experience in urban planning, integrated land use and transport modeling, and urban infrastructure planning. The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of engineering project management and a strong ability to work in a team, contributing to the integration of various project development areas. Extensive experience in handling and analysing data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required, as well as familiarity with project management tools. Knowledge of R programming and strategic scenario-building tools is desirable.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
