LISER invites candidates to apply for the position of Research Associate within its Living Conditions Department (LC). The successful candidate is expected to develop a research agenda fitting one or more of the following areas:

  • Inequality and poverty;
  • Social and economic mobility;
  • Equality of opportunity and education;
  • Family economics;
  • Gender economics;
  • Ex-ante and ex-post policy evaluation;
  • Social protection;
  • Tax and transfer policy; 
  • Environmental policy, intergenerational equity.

Your Role

The successful candidate will be asked to:

  • produce excellent research outputs, which can be published in high-ranked, peer-reviewed journals;
  • contribute to the submission of grant proposals (external funding) and participate in the projects carried out by the department with local and international stakeholders;
  • participate in public outreach activities like policy briefs, round-tables discussions, social media communication, and take part in the day-to-day department-related activities (workshops, lecture series, etc.).

 

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in economics, applied econometrics, social sciences or other relevant discipline;
  • Excellent quantitative skills; skills in programming (Stata, R, Python), machine learning, data science are a plus;
  • Hands-on experience working with large-scale survey or administrative data are a plus;
  • Excellent writing skills, for both scientific and more policy-oriented articles;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team;
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written); fluency in French is considered as an asset.
