On-Site
CLOSED (open from 27 November 2024)
This conference is a two-day event aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of democratic governance and economic systems. In a world where globalization and corporate power increasingly test the resilience of democratic institutions, this conference seeks to generate innovative insights into how democracy can be strengthened to ensure accountability, transparency, and inclusivity in governance.
Participants will explore key themes such as the role of taxation in addressing inequalities, corporate influence on democratic decision-making, accountability in governance, and the interplay between corporatism and public procurement. A key focus of this conference is fostering methodological innovation. We encourage research that employs advanced econometrics, data science, and big data techniques to address critical questions in political economy. By bringing together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, the conference aims to advance our understanding of how democracy and capitalism can coexist in ways that promote social cohesion and sustainability.
